As a Service Club one of our favorite group efforts is to go on site with a hands on experience helping out in the community in a wide variety of projects. With the current changes due to Covid 19 this has not been possible but in true Rotary spirit we find ways to help until we are able to provide these services again.

With many local families now experiencing an extra burden due to loss of income and an increased need for hygiene products our club organized a supply drive. Two members offered their homes as collection points and allowed for a contact free area to drop off donations. All together we collected close to 600 items including toilet paper, hand sanitizer and wipes and $365 in cash.

We believe strongly in partnerships as an organization each has its strengths and connections so for this project the Mason Food Pantry and the Kings Local Food Pantry were ideal partners to get the supplies where they were most needed. We split the donations and the cash between them.
Mason food pantry said they are happy to get the donation and check. They are still in need of cleaning supplies and canned food.

Kings Local was also very appreciative and pleased to see paper towels included which they were looking for that very morning!
With no idea as to when things will improve please consider supporting these organizations by dropping off items. For more information go to https://masonfoodpantry.org/ and https://www.kingslocalfoodpantry.org/ or check out their Facebook pages.
As Rotarians it is hard to not participate in hands on experiences but as several members mentioned in our meeting it felt great to ‘do something’!
